Rothamsted Research, previously known as the Rothamsted Experimental Station and then the Institute of Arable Crops Research, is one of the oldest agricultural research institutions in the world, having been founded in 1843.

Rothamsted Research aims to raise the productivity of crop and livestock systems, tackle weed, disease and insect resistance to agrochemicals, improve soil health, enhance natural capital, reduce agriculture’s carbon footprint, and add novel nutritional and bioeconomical value to crops and other products.

Their core purpose is to bring together global science, fresh thinking and innovation for lasting benefits worldwide.
