Farm-PEP - Setting out the Ethos for the new community

Daniel Kindred

In setting out to develop the Farm-PEP community of farmers, advisors, researchers, industry and KE practitioners it is vital that we create the right tone and ethos.

Our current ideas are for Farm-PEP to be:

  • “A place to tell people what you are doing and find out whats going on”

  • Open to all, and fully transparent about any commercial interests

  • Connecting content, not duplicating what already exists & works

  • A place for deep discussion & distillation

  • Encouraging of constructive challenge, but always respectful and non-anonymous

  • Open to failure - knowing what doesn't work is as important as knowing what does

  • Fully supportive of farm-led innovation

  • Inclusive of all sectors

  • Focussing initially on active projects - we can't answer every question from the outset, but we can be a place where people can connect with what is going on now

  • Practicing what we preach - using Farm-PEP to openly share and co-design Farm-PEP as we go
